Patterns of abstract verbs - أَوْزانُ الأفْعالِ المُجَرَّدَةِ
The abstract quadruple verb pattern – أَوْزانُ الفِعْلِ الرُّباعِيِّ الْمُجَرَّد

- There is only one regular pattern for the Arabic quadruple verb FaƐlala YufaƐlilu فَعْلَلَ يُفَعْلِلُ.
- We can divide the quadruple verb into two categories according to the meaning of the verbs as follows:
1- Quadruple verbs indicating intangible meanings: Consider the following examples:

| Search for | The policemen search while people sleep. | |||
| Scatter | Don’t scatter your money. | |||
| Roll over | Whoever rolls over that stone, will win a prize. | |||
| Revel | Don’t revel in public street, otherwise the police may prison you. | |||
2- Quadruple verbs indicating tangible objects: Consider the following examples:
- Some quadruple nouns are formed to indicate tangible objects as: (عَقْرَب scorpion - فُلْفُل pepper - بُرْعُم bud). It’s possible to derive verbs from these nouns as follows:
