The status - الْحَال
Types of the status –أَنْواعُ الحَالِ

- In this part we will study the types of the Arabic status In-Shā’-Allâh (God willing).
- The Arabic status can be a single noun, an Arabic verbal sentence, an Arabic nominal sentence, or a quasi sentence (preposition + noun), as in the following example:

| Nominal sentence | The man lived and his heart is unhappy | عاشَ الرَّجُلُ وَقَلْبُهُ حَزِينٌ /ξāsha ar raĵulu wa qalbuhu ħazīnun/ | |

| The child slept on his side | نَامَ الطِّفْلُ عَلَى جَنْبِهِ /nāma aŧ ŧiflu ξala ĵanbihi/ | ||
| The man lived in his village | /ξāsha ar raĵulu fī qaryatihi/ | ||
| My father died with his illness | /māta abī biξillatihi/ |
- In the above mentioned table you may notice that the status can be a single noun as (سَعِيدًا – باكِيًا - كَرِيمًا - فَقِيرًا), a verbal sentence as (يَسْبَحُ فِي الْبَحْرِ - يُنادِي أُمَّهُ), a nominal sentence as (وَقَلْبُهُ حَزِينٌ - وَقَلْبُهُ مَرِيضٌ), or a quasi sentence as (فِي الْبَيْتِ - عَلَى جَنْبِهِ - فِي قَرْيَتِهِ - بِعِلَّتِهِ).
- You may also notice that the status when it is a nominal sentence, it can be preceded with /wāw/. This /wāw/ is called in Arabic (واو الحال) the /wāw/ of the status.
