Coordinating conjunctives – حُـرُوف الْعَـطْـفِ

  • We are still in lesson seventy nine of our free Arabic language course. This Arabic course with images and audios will help you learn Arabic.
  • Not all the conjunctive particles in Arabic are coordinative particles. The Arabic coordinating particles are those particle which relates the following words to the preceding ones, making the following noun in the same declension case of the preceding noun.
  • In Arabic there are seven coordinating particles as follows:

  • All these particles makes the following nouns follow the declension case of the preceding nouns. Consider the following examples:

  • You may notice that all the coordinating particles make the same function (i.e. they make the joined noun follow the declension case of the preceding noun), but they do not have the same meaning. Therefore we will study the meaning of each one in the following parts of this lesson.
