The Style of Apology – أُسْلوب الاِعْتِذَار

- The Arabic apology style consists of the expressions which someone can use to show that he is sorry about something that he has done or said (being so late, causing troubles etc.)
- In Arabic, there are many structures to express apology. There are verbal affirmative structures as (أَعْتَذِرُ I apologize), a verbal imperative structure as (سامِحْنِي forgive me)verbal noun structures as (عَفْوًا - مَعْذِرَةً), and nominal sentences as (أنا آسِف I am sorry).
- Following are some dialogues that contain situations of apology:

- You may notice that the apology words (عَفْوًا – مَعْذِرَةً - عُذْرًا) are in the accusative case, because they are considered absolute objects which their verbs are omitted as it is uanderstood from the context as (اُعْفُ عَنِّي عَفْوًا - أَعْتَذِرُ عَنْ هَّذَا الأمْرِ مَعْذِرَةً - اِعْذِرْنِي عَلى هذا الكلامِ عُذْرًا).
