  • We are still in lesson fifty seven of our free Arabic language course. This Arabic course with images and audios will help you learn Arabic.
  • We will discuss now why the six nouns are studied together in one group, and why they are called the six nouns.
  • These nouns agree with each other in certain rules and features that are different from the rules and features of regular nouns.
  • You may remember that we studied in lesson 22 something called “the five verbs”. In that lesson we learnt five types of verbs. Those five verbs agree with each other in some irregular declension rules, which differ from the declension rules of the regular verbs, so we studied them in a separate group called the five verbs.
  • This group of the six nouns follows the same principle as that of the five verbs. I.e. the six nouns agree with each other in certain irregular declension rules.
  • These irregular declension rules differ from the regular rules that are applied for the normal singular noun.
