Lesson 84 – الدَّرْسُ الرَّابِع والثَّمانون
Warning and exhortation style - أُسْلُوبُ الإغْرَاءِ وَالتَّحْذِيرِ
Introduction - مُقَدِّمَةٌ
- This is lesson eighty four of our free Arabic language course. This Arabic course with images and audios will help you learn Arabic.
- In this lesson we will learn two new Arabic styles; the exhortation style and the warning style. They are to be studied together, because they have similar forms and rules.
- The exhortation style means to alert someone about something laudable to do, as patience, kindness, mercy, determination, etc.
- The warning style means to alert someone about something odious to avoid, as despair, lying, ignorance, etc.
- Both styles depend on the verbal sentence in which the verb is obligatorily omitted, and both of the object of the exhortation and the warn are considered a direct object related to the omitted verb.
- We learnt in lesson 66 part 7 that the verb can be omitted together with the doer in some structures as the warning and the exhortation. In such structures the existence of the direct object and the context indicate the omitted verb and the doer, and refer to the style of exhortation or warning.
- We will learn each of the exhortation style and the warning style in a separate part of this lesson, In-Shaa’-Allaah (God willing).
